Enjoy the exotic atmosphere of the Serpaton mountain pasture, with its numerous cows in the summer and an exceptional panorama over a large part of the Alps.

4 points of interest

  • The Serpaton Alpine pasture

The Serpaton Alpine pasture is a vast area of summer pasture, where, each summer, about 600 heifers come to graze. The maintenance of the mountain pasture makes it possible to keep the landscapes open, as we know them today.
  • Black Grouse

The Serpaton Alp hosts the Black Grouse. This sedentary bird is one of the symbols of the Vercors Regional Nature Park. It appears on the park's logo, in the company of the wild Tulip. During the breeding season (April-May) the rooster sings at daybreak. But do not try to see it and above all stay on the roads, because this remarkable species is very sensitive to disturbance.
  • Paragliding

The Serpaton Alp is a privileged place for paragliding. Indeed, the ascending currents, linked to the morning sun, make it a popular place for takeoff, the best paragliders can reach Switzerland.
  • Pas du Serpaton

The 360 ° panorama that is offered to you is exceptional. Admire the eastern barrier of the Vercors and the surrounding Alpine massifs; Devoluy, Ecrins, Taillefer, Belledonne or the Chartreuse mountains.

Departure from Gresse-en-Vercors, near the church. Take the direction of Pas du Serpaton 2 passing by La Casse 1. The route then momentarily takes the road before climbing gradually.

The second part of the walk takes you to the Pas de Serpaton, along the Serpaton mountain pastures.
  • Departure : Gresse-en-Vercors village
  • Arrival : Gresse-en-Vercors village
  • Towns crossed : Gresse-en-Vercors and Saint-Paul-lès-Monestier
