The Coulmes massif

High place of the coal mining in the Vercors, the forest of Coulmes between 800 m and 1475 m of altitude is mainly composed of Beeches. For a long time deforested in favor of agriculture, reforestation has mainly taken place since the end of the 19th century. On your way you can see different karstic forms (Lapiaz, caves and chasms). This karstic massif is also characterized by the scarcity of water.

In 1998, a man revived the past by reviving this charcoal hut.
