Les Coulmes is a small, isolated area in the northwest Vercors, where the three villages—Presles, Malleval-en-Vercors and Rencurel—have barely 1,000 inhabitants all told. The massif is cloaked predominantly in beech forest. Charcoal burners converted beech into charcoal from the 12th century until circa 1970.
Welcome to these magical landscapes that rival the forest of Brocéliande!

During the ascent to the Pas du Follet, admire the view over the Rencurel valley, dominated by the rocks of Méaudre and the Rochers de Gonson. It was here that part of the film was filmed: "Une hironelle a fait le printemps" by Christian Carion in 2001.

Description

  3. Continue downhill along a wide path via Fayard de Gontier to make your way slowly to Malleval-en-Vercors.
  4. You can split this stage into two by stopping at Malleval.
