In days gone by, the inhabitants of Autrans, Méaudre and Villard-de-Lans regularly used the Pertuson pass to get to the valley of the Isère (Saint-Marcellin and Vinay) via the Coulmes. They travelled all this way to buy and trade everyday products at the fairs. Mountain walking was not a leisure activity—it was more a matter of survival!
Go slowly into the beech-fir forest so characteristic of the northern Vercors, following the trail as it winds between rocks and deep woods.

    The Via Vercors

The Via Vercors is a gentle, easy and secure route. It is accessible to all: pedestrians, bicycles, people with reduced mobility ... On 40 km, it makes the link between the municipalities of the 4 mountains.

Description

The Grand Tour gradually leaves the Coulmes massif behind as it rises again to the Pertuson pass (Pas de Pertuson) (1), paving the way to the valley of Autrans-Méaudre. The landscape here in the valley of Rencurel is open, now climbing towards the pass through a coniferous forest.
The route gradually descends from Pas de Pertuson along a path in the forest, passing through the Pierre de l'Eau (2) and Davière (3) to reach the hamlet of Truite et Thorénas (4).
Now head due north to the village of Autrans via Les Vernes (5). From the pass, you can marvel at this ancient glacial valley and its two villages, Autrans and Méaudre, both well known for their Nordic skiing, but which today form the single commune of Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors.
  • Departure : Romeyère pass - Col de Romeyère (car park)
  • Arrival : Autrans village
  • Towns crossed : Rencurel, Méaudre, and Autrans
