Not to be missed on this section:
Grotte de la Ture (Ture cave) : This cave, with its straightforward route, has been known to the people living in Autrans since the beginning of the last century. It is used by speleologists to explore the underground world.
Stele commemorating British aircraft: On the night of February 2, 1944, an RAF Lancaster Bomber was bringing in supplies for the Resistance fighters at Camp de Gève.
Flying at low altitude, the plane was caught in a snowstorm and crashed, killing the entire crew of seven, all of whom were British airmen. The explosion was heard as far away as the village of Autrans.
Plateau de Gève (Gève plateau) : this is a very popular site for Nordic skiing. It is part of an extensive network of almost 200 km of cross-country ski trails around Autrans-Méaudre. In winter, the Gève plateau is one of the snowiest and coldest places in the Vercors.

Now known as the Refuge de Gève, this forest cabin once served as the winter quarters for the Camp 3 Resistance fighters. It was set up by the Franc-Tireur Resistance movement in the spring of 1943. It housed around 30 people who were refusing to undertake the Service du Travail Obligatoire – the forced enlistment of French citizens. Their days were devoted to collecting firewood and keeping watch. They later took part in the fighting in the Vercors and the Liberation of Lyon in 1944. Since Camp 3 was too easy for the enemy to reach in the summer, it moved to the Cabane des Carteaux.
Description

The path follows the edge of the cliffs for a long time with enchanting views over the valley of the Isère, the Chambarands and the Chartreuse. Stick closely to the path, especially in bad weather!
The path takes you through predominantly forested areas until the Fayards as you pass through the crossroads of Grand Pré (1), and Creusot (2) followed by Sous Montbrand (3). Herd protection dogs
In the mountain pastures, the guard dogs are there to protect the herds from predators.
When I hike, I adapt my behaviour by going around the herd and pausing so that the dog can identify me.
